Terms of Service

School Junkie operates an online marketplace platform that enables parents, guardians, schools, organizations and businesses to buy and sell pre-loved or new school uniforms, sports gear and related school items (the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services as a buyer or seller, you agree to these Terms of Service.

School Junkie (Pty) Ltd provides the technology platform that enables users to list, discover and purchase items from other users.

 

Marketplace Role

School Junkie operates an online marketplace platform connecting independent buyers and sellers.

Except where expressly stated, School Junkie does not own, manufacture, store, distribute or sell the majority of items listed on the platform.

Transactions occur directly between buyers and sellers.

School Junkie is not responsible for the quality, condition, legality or delivery of items listed on the platform.

Users acknowledge that they transact at their own risk.

 

Platform Intermediary

School Junkie acts solely as an intermediary technology platform facilitating transactions between independent users.

School Junkie does not assume responsibility for the actions, omissions or conduct of buyers or sellers.

Any contractual relationship created through a transaction on the platform exists directly between the buyer and the seller.

 

Eligibility

Users must be at least 18 years of age to create an account or transact on the platform.

By using the platform, users confirm that they meet this requirement.

 

User Accounts

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials.

Users are responsible for all activity that occurs under their account.

Users must ensure that registration information is accurate and kept up to date.

Unauthorised use of an account should be reported to School Junkie immediately.

 

Seller Responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for ensuring that:

  • they have the legal right to sell the items listed
  • listings accurately describe the item
  • defects or imperfections are clearly disclosed
  • items comply with applicable laws.

Sellers must not misrepresent the condition, authenticity or origin of items.

 

Product Listings

Sellers must ensure that product listings are accurate and complete.

Listings should clearly describe the item, including its condition, size and any relevant school information.

School Junkie reserves the right to remove listings that are misleading, fraudulent or violate platform policies.
 

Images

Images uploaded to the platform must show only the item being sold.

Images may not include:

  • identifiable people
  • faces
  • children or school learners
  • personal documents
  • unlawful or inappropriate content.

School Junkie may remove images or listings that violate these requirements.

 

Payments

Payments between buyers and sellers are facilitated through TradeSafe escrow services.

TradeSafe securely holds funds until buyers confirm receipt of the item.

School Junkie does not store users’ payment card or banking information.

Packaging and Shipping

Sellers are responsible for packaging items adequately to ensure safe delivery.

Sellers must ship items within a reasonable time-frame after payment confirmation.

Where available, sellers should provide shipment tracking information.

Prohibited Activities

Users may not:

  • list illegal goods
  • sell stolen or counterfeit items
  • engage in fraudulent activity
  • manipulate the platform
  • attempt to bypass the platform’s payment system
  • interfere with the operation of the platform.

School Junkie may suspend or terminate accounts engaged in prohibited activity.

 

Identity Verification

School Junkie may request identity verification information, including identity numbers, in order to verify sellers and prevent fraud.

Failure to provide verification may result in account restrictions.

 

Platform Monitoring

School Junkie reserves the right to monitor listings and platform activity to detect fraud, illegal activity or violations of these Terms.

School Junkie may remove listings or restrict accounts where necessary to maintain marketplace safety.

 

Intellectual Property

Users may not upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others.

School Junkie may remove listings that violate intellectual property rights.

 

Transaction Disputes

Buyers and sellers should attempt to resolve disputes directly.

School Junkie may assist in dispute resolution in good faith but is not liable for the outcome of disputes.

 

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, School Junkie shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from:

  • transactions between users
  • inaccurate listings
  • delivery failures
  • product defects
  • service interruptions.

User Indemnity

Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless School Junkie, its directors, employees and affiliates from any claims, damages or losses arising from:

  • misuse of the platform
  • unlawful listings
  • fraudulent activity
  • violation of these Terms.

Suspension and Termination

School Junkie reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in harmful conduct.

Users must fulfill any outstanding obligations to other users following termination.

 

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in South African courts.

 

Changes to These Terms

School Junkie may update these Terms from time to time.

Continued use of the platform after changes have been published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
